Ana Edwards is an artist and activist who lives in Richmond, Va. She earned a bachelor's degree in Visual Arts from California State Polytechnic University at Pomona and then did graduate work at the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University in New Jersey. Ana is a founding member of the community organization Defenders for Freedom, Justice & Equality; chair of the organization's Sacred Ground Historical Reclamation Project; host of the weekly radio program DefendersLIVE!; and a member of the editorial board of The Richmond Defender, the group's bimonthly newspaper.
Ana is active with the Virginia Friends of Mali and the Virginia Anti-War Network, a statewide alliance of community, peace and labor organizations she helped found in 2004. She was a member of the support team for the 2007 People's Peace Delegation to Iran and has played a key role in organizing opposition in Virginia to threats of war against Iran.
