Student Stop the War Coalition
Don't Iraq Iran - No to NATO
Protest outside the National Gallery
Saturday 30 June 1pm
Trafalgar Square, Upper Concourse
Stop the War are calling a National Day of Action on 30 June 2012. Local STW groups all over the country will be taking to the streets to protest against the Western interventions in Syria and Iran.
In support, the Stop the War students will be protesting in Trafalgar Square at 1 pm in front of the National Art Gallery.
Now more than ever, we need to mobilise against war. A new round of crippling EU and American sanctions against Iran will take effect this month, strangling the Iranian people and causing untold misery. There is no doubt this is intended as a prelude to a war that would set the Middle East ablaze and decimate an already troubled worldwide economy.
And in Syria, a new influx of weapons supplied by Qatar and Saudi to rebels, are starting to make an impact on the battlefield. We are concerned that Turkey has vowed to take 'necessary action' against the shooting down of its F-4 jet over the Mediterranean recently by Syrian forces.
Stop the War recognises that Western interventions can only ever lead to an escalation of conflict, countless civilian casualties and increased instability to an already volatile region. We say No! to NATO. End the sanctions. Stop the War!
